It can also be helpful to follow a tutorial series if you learn better by following something chronologically. I feel fairly confident with the program and I'm able to make most things that I want, though my workflow is definitely a mess right now, and I'm still picking up tips and tricks along the way. With the knowledge that I gained from these initial sculpts I started working on a bigger project and again I look up techniques and tutorials as I bump into roadblocks. While doing this I would look up techniques and tutorials to figure out how to achieve certain things like how to give the lips structure or how to give the nostrils a sharper edge.
I would say first you're going to want to learn the software to a degree where you feel fairly confident with it in terms of navigating it, understanding the utility of things like dynamesh, etc.Īfter this it was for me most helpful to first set a goal to create something of a smaller scale, like a specific part of the face (nose, ear, mouth, etc).
